An explanation must account for the system
Noreste approaches a development by asking what makes it possible, what sustains it and what could change its direction. We connect the event with its underlying conditions before drawing conclusions about its significance.
READ THE MECHANISM
Three questions beneath the headline
- What are the incentives?
- We examine what participants stand to gain, protect or lose, and how that shapes their choices.
- Where are the dependencies?
- We trace the resources, infrastructure and institutional arrangements that an outcome requires.
- What is the relevant timescale?
- We consider the pace at which capacity, behaviour and investment can realistically adjust.
CLARITY OF REASONING
Keep evidence and interpretation distinct
A coherent account should make clear what supports it and where uncertainty remains.

- The explanation drawn from those observations.

- The conditions a projection relies on.
- Unresolved
- The gaps that limit confidence or require further inquiry.
CHALLENGE THE EXPLANATION
What would make this view wrong?
We consider alternative explanations and examine the conditions under which a thesis would weaken. A persuasive narrative still needs to withstand contrary evidence.
Conclusions remain open to revision
We update our interpretation when the evidence changes, preserving a clear distinction between conviction and certainty.
